A Bit About Therapy...
A Collaborative Meeting of the Minds
Therapy is most useful when it is client-driven; i.e., the goals worked on are the goals that the client wants to accomplish. It is a space to untangle one's thoughts, work through painful emotions, and learn skills to deal with life stressors. Some find themselves in therapy for a specific, time-limited issue (e.g. divorce recovery), while others find it helpful to go to therapy consistently to manage ongoing issues.
For many, going to therapy is a helpful component of their journey towards a healthier life. Therapy is useful for overcoming negative life experiences, changing unhealthy thought patterns, recovering from addiction, and helps one feel healthier and happier.
